Best Sunscreen For Not Staining Clothes
The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends us to wear sunscreen every day throughout the year. Sunscreen not only protects our skin against developing the deadly skin cancer, but it also has beauty benefits because it prevents premature aging caused by exposure to UV rays.
Finding the best sunscreen to use daily is not an easy task. Other than the cosmetic elegance of the sunscreen, one of the many concerns include finding a sunscreen that does not stain the clothes. As we apply sunscreen o our face and neck, the cloth on the neckline is susceptible to getting sunscreen rubbed on due to contact with the sunscreen applied on the neck. Besides that, it is not unusual to have a drop or 2 of sunscreen spilled on our clothes.
As the result of sunscreen staining your clothes, you would hope that the sunscreen would be removed easily with washing. This can be difficult if you stain your white clothes. Hence, the best solution is to find sunscreens that would not stain your clothes.
As a sunscreen user for more than a decade, I have tried out countless sunscreens and could easily recommend you the best sunscreen for not staining clothes. Beauty Rabbit Hole recommends Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF50+/PA++++ as the best sunscreen for not staining clothes. You may continue reading for more information such as ingredients to avoid and the top 3 sunscreens for not staining clothes.
Ingredients To Avoid If You Are Looking For The Best Sunscreen That Does Not Stain Clothes
Avobenzone or Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane is notorious for leaving an orange or brown stain on clothes. It is a common ingredient found in sunscreens made in the United States. Avobenzone stain can be difficult to remove especially if it stains your white clothes. Therefore, you should avoid this ingredient if you don’t want to stain your clothes orange!
Avoid Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide
Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide are physical filters which can lend a white cast to the skin. Not only do they make your skin white, but it could make everything it come in contact with white as well, such as clothes, car, etc. These ingredients may be difficult to avoid as they are present in many sunscreen products.
Avoid Tinted Sunscreen
Tinted sunscreens have tint to match your skin color, and they can definitely stain your clothes too. I used to wear tinted sunscreen until it messed up my favorite white collared shirt. As I applied the tinted sunscreen on my neck too, the collar of the shirt touched my neck and was permanently stained by the tint in the sunscreen. The stain could not be removed regardless of any method I tried. Therefore, do not use any tinted sunscreens if you don’t want to stain your clothes. However, you could apply tinted sunscreen on your face only and not on your neck so the tinted sunscreen would not touch any part of your clothing so there’s no chance of it staining your clothes.
Best Sunscreen For Not Staining Clothes
It would be impossible to find effective sunscreens made in the United States that are formulated without Avobenzone, Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide because there are not many sunscreen filters to protect against UVA that are available in the USA. There are many other better sunscreen ingredients which have been used for decades in beauty and sunscreen-obsessed countries like Japan, Korea and Europe.
I would recommend using Asian sunscreens which contain sunscreen filters like Tinosorb and Uvinul as they are safe on sensitive skin, cosmetically elegant, effectively protects the skin against UVA and UVB, and do not stain clothes.
These sunscreens apply like moisturizers, and you will never look back after trying them out. You would not feel burdened to wear sunscreens anymore since they feel comfortable on the skin and do not mess up your clothes.
Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF50+/PA++++ is a cult product not only in Japan, but in many Asian countries as well. Japanese has really perfected sunscreen. This sunscreen is so affordable despite its strong UV protection and cosmetic elegance. Cosmetic elegance is one of the key factor that would encourage you to use sunscreen daily because most sunscreens are either thick, oily, leave a white cast, or stain the clothes. This sunscreen does not have any of that cons.
This incredibly light sunscreen also works well as a primer. Due to its lightweight texture, it is easy to liberally apply and reapply this sunscreen. Some sunscreens can be very tenacious and are difficult to remove even after washing your face a few times, but this sunscreen can be easily removed with a facial cleanser so you do not need harsh removal methods. Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF50+/PA++++ does not contain tint, Avobenzone, Zinc Oxide, and Titanium Dioxide. So rest assured, this sunscreen will not stain your clothes at all.
This sunscreen has the highest sun protection rating possible in Japan, which is SPF50+ and PA++++. SPF50+ means that this sunscreen has an SPF of more than 50, so this sunscreen provides very strong protection against UVB rays which primarily causes burning. PA++++ is used in Asia to measure the protection level against UVA rays, and as of now, PA++++ is the highest PA protection available. Thus, this sunscreen provides very high protection against UVA rays which primarily causes aging. It is also waterproof and sweatproof.
The only con is that this sunscreen contains alcohol which may be drying for those with dry or dehydrated skin. This sunscreen works well for most people though which is why it is one of the best-selling sunscreens in Japan. Hence, this is my number 1 recommendation for most people. If you want a sunscreen without alcohol, you can read on for my other recommendations.
Etude House Sunprise Dust Block SPF50 PA+++ is a sunscreen which also protects the skin against dust. Products with dust blocking or anti-pollution properties are trending in Korea because the dust and pollution could cause the skin condition to worsen.
This sunscreen has a lightweight texture and also microfine bubbles. It does not contain alcohol so it is definitely not drying, which makes it very suitable for those with dry skin as well. The sunscreen is easily spreadable and feels refreshing on the skin! Moreover, it does not cause any white cast on the skin at all which makes it really cosmetically elegant even for those with dark skin tones.
Etude House Sunprise Dust Block has very high UV protection of SPF50 PA+++. It does not contain tint, Avobenzone, Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide so it would not stain your clothes at all. Moreover, you can easily remove this sunscreen with a facial cleanser.
Mommy UV Mild Gel SPF30 PA+++ is a mild sunscreen which is gentle enough for sensitive skin, babies, and children. It is made of 90% food ingredients. It also comes in a larger bottle than the previous 2 sunscreens which makes it more economical.
Mommy UV Mild Gel SPF30 PA+++ does not contain alcohol so it takes a while to dry down on the skin but it is not greasy at all. In addition, it does not contain silicones which could cause breakout in sensitive individuals.
While it does not have the highest possible protection label of a sunscreen, SPF30 PA+++ is sufficient for daily use. Studies have shown that there is not much difference between an SPF30 and SPF50. SPF 30 protects against 97% of UVB radiation while SPF 50 protects against of UVB rays. A sunscreen with a lower sun protection is more suitable for sensitive skin because too much UV filters can be stimulating to the skin.
